The Hindenburghütte is located at an altitude of 1260 metres on the Hemmersuppenalm in the municipality of Reit im Winkl. It was built in 1926 on the orders of Reich President Paul von Hindenburg as a shelter for his soldiers. The hut, which bears the name of the then Reich President, was used for military purposes until the mid-1940s.
